Company Remarks

Company has paid some of the highest environmental penalties amongst its peers. Although it has begun to certify some products to the more rigorous Forest Stewardship Council standard, relies primarily on a more industry friendly certification standard for forestry management and procurement. In 2009, divested its fine paper and containerboard, packaging and recycling businesses, which represented a significant portion of its high GHG-emitting manufacturing operations. Owns, leases or has long-term licenses to manage 22 million acres of timberland, 6.4 million in the U.S. and the remainder mainly in Canada.
